Publication Process

The Journal of Educational Innovation and Research applies a transparent and systematic publication process to ensure that every manuscript is evaluated fairly, professionally, and according to appropriate academic and ethical standards.

The publication process consists of several stages, from manuscript submission to final publication. The process is designed to maintain the quality, originality, integrity, and relevance of published articles.

Manuscript Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the journal's online submission system (OJS).

Before submitting, authors are required to ensure that:

  • the manuscript follows the journal's Author Guidelines;
  • the manuscript uses the journal's prescribed template;
  • the manuscript fits the journal's Focus and Scope;
  • the manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere;
  • the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal;
  • all authors have approved the submitted manuscript;
  • references and citations are properly formatted;
  • ethical requirements have been fulfilled where applicable; and
  • conflicts of interest and funding information are disclosed.

The journal does not charge any submission fee.

Initial Editorial Screening

After submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to determine whether the manuscript is suitable for further evaluation.

The screening may include:

  1. Scope and topic relevance;
  2. Compliance with Author Guidelines;
  3. Manuscript completeness;
  4. Academic and scientific quality;
  5. Originality and contribution;
  6. Plagiarism or similarity checking;
  7. Ethical compliance; and
  8. Basic language and formatting requirements.

Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external peer review.

Passing the initial screening does not guarantee acceptance for publication.

Similarity and Plagiarism Check

Manuscripts may undergo a similarity or plagiarism check before being sent for peer review.

The journal does not tolerate:

  • plagiarism;
  • self-plagiarism;
  • duplicate publication;
  • fabricated content;
  • falsified information;
  • manipulated research results; or
  • other forms of academic misconduct.

If substantial similarity or potential academic misconduct is identified, the editor may request clarification from the authors, return the manuscript for revision, or reject the manuscript depending on the severity of the issue.

Assignment to Editor

After completing the initial screening, the manuscript is assigned to an editor with relevant academic expertise.

The editor evaluates the manuscript's:

  • relevance to the journal;
  • academic contribution;
  • originality;
  • methodological appropriateness;
  • clarity of presentation; and
  • suitability for peer review.

The editor also identifies potential conflicts of interest and selects appropriate reviewers.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the editorial screening are sent to qualified reviewers.

The journal uses a peer-review process in which reviewers independently evaluate the manuscript.

Reviewers assess, among other things:

  • originality and novelty;
  • relevance of the research problem;
  • theoretical foundation;
  • research methodology;
  • validity of data and analysis;
  • clarity of results;
  • quality of discussion;
  • relevance of conclusions;
  • quality of references; and
  • overall contribution to educational research and innovation.

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based recommendations.

The review process is conducted confidentially.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editor's assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

Accept

The manuscript is considered suitable for publication with no substantial revision required.

Minor Revision

The manuscript requires limited corrections or improvements before acceptance.

Major Revision

The manuscript requires substantial revision in areas such as methodology, analysis, discussion, theoretical framework, structure, or presentation.

Reject

The manuscript does not meet the journal's academic standards, scope, originality requirements, or other publication criteria.

The final editorial decision remains the responsibility of the editor.

Revision by Authors

If revision is required, authors must revise the manuscript according to the editor's and reviewers' comments.

Authors should:

  1. Carefully address each reviewer comment.
  2. Explain how each comment has been addressed.
  3. Clearly identify changes made to the manuscript when requested.
  4. Provide a response or revision note where appropriate.
  5. Resubmit the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe.

The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Second Review / Re-Evaluation

For manuscripts requiring substantial revision, the editor may send the revised manuscript back to the reviewers.

The purpose of re-evaluation is to determine whether the authors have adequately addressed the major issues raised during the previous review.

The editor may request additional revisions if significant issues remain unresolved.

Final Acceptance

A manuscript is formally accepted when the editor determines that:

  • the manuscript meets the journal's academic standards;
  • reviewers' concerns have been adequately addressed;
  • the manuscript complies with publication ethics;
  • the manuscript fits the journal's scope; and
  • the final version is suitable for publication.

The corresponding author receives an official acceptance notification through the journal's OJS system or registered email.

Copyediting and Language Editing

After acceptance, the manuscript enters the editorial preparation stage.

During this stage, the editorial team may check:

  • grammar and spelling;
  • terminology;
  • consistency of formatting;
  • citations and references;
  • tables and figures;
  • headings and numbering;
  • author information; and
  • overall manuscript presentation.

Authors may be contacted if clarification or additional information is required.

Layout and Proofreading

The accepted manuscript is formatted according to the journal's publication layout.

A proof version may be provided to the corresponding author for final checking.

Authors are expected to carefully review the proof for:

  • typographical errors;
  • author names and affiliations;
  • tables and figures;
  • equations;
  • references;
  • formatting; and
  • other factual or presentation errors.

Only necessary corrections should be made at this stage. Substantial changes to the content are generally not permitted unless approved by the editor.

Publication

After final proofreading and approval, the article is published online on the journal's official website.

The published article will contain appropriate bibliographic information and a permanent article identifier when applicable.

Once published, the article becomes part of the journal's permanent scholarly record.

Post-Publication

The journal recognizes that errors or ethical concerns may occasionally be identified after publication.

If a significant issue is discovered, the editorial team may take appropriate action, including:

  • correction;
  • clarification;
  • expression of concern; or
  • retraction.

Post-publication actions are taken in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy and recognized publication-ethics practices.
